Our private tours are led only by professional fully licensed Moscow tour guides. Our guides are passionate local experts in a variety of fields including history, cuisine, architecture, theology and economics. Our areas of expertise may differ, but we are united by a lifelong curiosity, by a passion for sharing our knowledge and our love to the city of Moscow. All our guides are fluent in English.
Our tours are available in three main categories: Private Tours, Small-Group Tours, and Custom Tours.
Children are more than welcome on all our tours and it’s free for infants two years or under. We have had families with children of all ages on our tours and everyone enjoyed.
We do always suggest doing a private tour if you are coming with young children under the age of 8 years old. We have a Family Friendly tour, specifically designed for families with children. The rest of our tours, however, are designed for adults or teenagers with an interest in history and arts. There is no minimum age requirement. Of course, it depends on the personality and interest level of your children.
Please also remember, if you have a stroller it can be tough going up and down the subway stairs. If you have an infant we have found that being able to strap your baby to your chest or back is a lot easier.
Yes, of course! We do run private tours for solo travellers, this is no problem.
We include pick-up and drop-off from your hotel / Airbnb apartment (located in central Moscow) for all our Private tours if the private transportation included. For walking tours, your guide will pick you at your hotel.
Our licensed guides have all trained for a minimum of 16 months to get their diplomas and speak English fluently. They have been selected not only because of the knowledge and experience they bring but thanks to their ability to adapt to different publics: children, seniors, foodies, art lovers, multi-generation families, coming for weddings, corporate groups. Our guides all have a desire to share their knowledge and passion for Moscow, the art and the history of Russia.

Lunch is not included in the normal price of tours. Tours with a duration of 5 hours or more include a lunch break in the centre of Moscow or at the best local countryside restaurant for refreshment. For many years we found that the great majority of our guests wished to indulge with the Russian cuisine.
Moscow with local guests can now benefit from the option of pre-booking a meal at the restaurant with the best Russian dishes, so you will skip the waiting at the for a table and waiting for the food to be cooked. In addition, the food is freshly prepared in time for your arrival – the perfect way to maximise your sightseeing time and still be able to experience some of the best Russian food.
Where entrance fees are included on certain tours, this is always clearly stated on the page of the specific tour.

Do you offer small group tours in other languages?
We’re all about getting into the places big tours can’t do, so we are keen to ensure that the groups are not too large. Usually, there is a group of 5-8 people on a tour. On rare occasions, there may be slightly more travellers.
When you complete the online booking, you will be sent a confirmation email that has all of the tour details, including the location of the meeting point and how to get there.
If you cannot find a tour departure time that fits your schedule, please feel free to send us a Private Group Tour Request or email hello@moscowwithlocals.com with your available times. A Food Tour is an activity, led by a local culinary guide, who brings a group of people around an interesting area, stopping frequently at a variety of different locations to taste a number of different food and beverages.
Absolutely not! Our food tours combine visiting temples, architectural commentary, historical facts, local culture and culinary insight into a unique experience.
We highly recommend taking our food tours at the beginning of your time in Moscow. So you will have plenty of time to revisit your favourite food tasting locations and explore Moscow’s hidden gems.
And there is not one day that works better than another.
You won’t be hungry! It is enough food for everyone. Trust us: you won’t need to go to another restaurant after the food tour.
All guests must purchase a ticket whether they plan to participate in the food tastings or not. Non-paying individuals will not be able to join the tour for any reason.
Moscow with Locals Food Tours do not finish at the same location as the meeting point. All experiences end in Moscow city centre within walking distance to hotels, Red Square and other local attractions.
The exact starting point and ending point of each tour will be provided once tickets are purchased. Your guide will be happy to assist with directions at the end of the event.
