Amazing tour to Sergeev Posad

Anton took my partner and I on an amazing tour to Sergeev Posad, we saw beautiful churches and monasteries, ate delicious local food, and painted our own matryoshka dolls!
The experience was definitely unforgettable. Out guide was very friendly and informative, he knew a lot about Russian culture and history and can answer all your questions.
He showed us a traditional Russian carpentry site where locals build historic Russian log houses without using nails; took us to a monastery where you could learn about the repression religion faced during the Soviet era, and see some of the only catacombs in the region; showed us the main Sergeev Posad monastery and told us about its history and development during the times of Peter the Great and Ivan the Terrible; brought us to a cosy cafe where we had lunch, and took us to a matryoshka painting workshop run by two very friendly and knowledgeable women.
The matryoshka painting was arguably the highlight of the trip. All the supplies were provided, as well as step by step instructions and encouragement by the facilitators of the workshop. It was fascinating to learn about the history of matryoshka dolls and so fun to create your own souvenir to take home with you afterwards! It was also great to leave Moscow for a bit and enjoy the peaceful countryside, in the comfort of a private car. We highly recommend this trip!
