Our tour guide, Anton Permogorov, took us on a nine hour tour of the Russia countryside to see how local Russians live and eat. We were treated to an exceptional day of sights, tastes and experiences. We met and visited with locals after being invited into their homes, visited a restored working Monastery at Trinity Lavra, painted Matryoshka dolls with a local artisan, toured the unrivaled Monastery at Sergiyev Posad and finished the day with a late local lunch of Russian dumplings. Anton was extremely knowledgable and provided us with a wealth of information that made the trip more personal. We had already spent the previous day with Anton on a river cruise (also exceptional and beautiful) and we immediately asked him to take us on this tour. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to have some small glimpse into the real Russia.
